Cigarettes are the most expensive in the world. A pack of cigarettes (20 pieces) costs about $20~25. And since cigarette taxes are raised every year in line with the Consumer Price Index , cigarette prices keep rising. Smoking is not allowed inside cafes, restaurants, bars, and clubs, and even outdoor tables outside cafes with shelters are prohibited. Smoking is also prohibited at bus, tram, and train stops. Smoking is allowed in other general places, but the regulations are not as strict as in Korea.

To buy a cigarette, you can only buy cigarettes labeled 'Tabaco' at shops that are cheaper, followed by Woolworth and Coles as the second cheapest places, while other places like Seven Eleven and Convenience Store sell them at high prices. Regular stores like 7-Eleven or convenience stores cannot display cigarettes in a visible way inside or outside the store. Store them in completely sealed cabinets and only take them out when customers buy cigarettes. If you sell cigarettes to minors under 18, the owner will be fined $110,000.

The highlight of Australia's smoking ban policy is the 'AUSTRALIA'S PLAIN PACKAGING TOBACCO LEGISLATION,' the world's first major cigarette company and government to compete and win. This policy, fully implemented in December 2012, is unprecedented worldwide and regulates all cigarette  packaging to be a deep olive color, allowing only brand names to be displayed without advertising or images. It includes horrific and explicit photos of smoking-related diseases and displays warning messages in large letters. The intention is to reduce the urge to smoke as much as possible, but no one knows if it will actually be effective.
