If you lose your passport

1. If you lose your passport, report it to the nearest police station and obtain the case number (or Event Number) from the inspector. Police phone number: 131 444

2. Documents required for passport reissuance can be downloaded from the websites of the Consulate General in Sydney, Embassy Canberra, or Melbourne Consulate / Documents are available inside the embassy

- One passport loss report form

- 3 passport photos: Available at the consulate

- Police case number or report receipt from the police report

- A photo ID proving Korean nationality (such as an international driving permit or resident registration card)

- Immigration Department email confirming approval for the Working Holiday visa , with a valid visa label

- If you received a Second Working Holiday visa, send an email from the immigration department confirming your approval of the second visa

- Those aged 25 or older who have not completed military service must provide proof of overseas travel permission (can be downloaded from the Military Manpower Administration website)

- Adults (military service complete): Adults aged 18 and over must visit the consulate in person, as fingerprint verification is required when applying for a passport.

- Fees: Standard multiple passport / Single passport 10 years (48 pages) $69, 24 tickets $65 / 5 years (not serving in service) 48 pages $59, 24 pages $55 / Travel certificate about $33

* If you are granted the same expiration period as your lost passport, the fee is $33.

  * The passport reissue fee must be issued via Money Order at the post office.

- If you wish to receive your new passport by mail, you can purchase a return registered mail with your English address and name accurately written and submit it together.

3. The process for passport reissuance is said to usually take about four weeks. However, if the police background check is delayed or if the passport is lost more than twice within five years and the police investigate the circumstances of the loss, the issuance may be delayed. If you need to urgently return to your home country due to reasons such as visa expiration after losing your passport, you can submit the required documents and your return flight to explain the reason for your urgent return, and after review, they will issue a travel certificate.

Travel certificates can only be issued in limited cases, such as those who are deemed ineligible or who have been notified of reasons for urgent return

If you have lost all other identification documents (including all documents proving identity), please first submit the remaining documents required for passport reissuance and apply for reissuance. In this case, you can check with the relevant Korean authorities and verify your identity, and they will process the reissuance.
