On the 12th, President Lee Jae-myung instructed the so-called 'Customs drug investigation allegations of external pressure' to be "investigated strictly and independently, without any sanctuary or authority, regardless of command or command." In particular, President Lee ordered Im Eun-jung, chief prosecutor of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office, to add an additional prosecutor if necessary, and urged her to "thoroughly uncover the substantive truth." It is also reported that he directly instructed the investigation team to be reinforced, including dispatching Superintendent Baek Hae-ryong (pictured above), the person who exposed the external pressure allegations. External pressure in customs drug investigations The suspicions arose after police investigations into Incheon Customs officials were involved in drug smuggling crimes during the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, when revelations surfaced that external pressure was exercised by the then presidential office and others. During this process, claims were made that former Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung, then chief prosecutor of Incheon District Prosecutors' Office, deliberately halted the investigation despite being aware of the involvement of Incheon customs officials. Ultimately, Shim himself was reported by civic groups, and many high-ranking figures in the Yoon administration's investigative authorities were implicated. Furthermore, President Lee instructed all ministries to actively cooperate with the government's first parliamentary audit starting on the 13th, saying, "Accept the National Assembly's criticism regardless of party affiliation, take immediate action on what can be corrected," and added, "If there are valid criticisms and they are left unattended without reason, we will strictly punish them." He also instructed, "Actively explain any misunderstandings, manipulations, or slander that arise during the audit."
