Luna 1878 Winter Night Market
Victoria Market, which has stood for over a century and a half
Saying it was 150 years ago doesn't really resonate. 1859 was the 13th year of King Cheoljong's reign in the late Joseon period, and it is also the historical setting for the film 'The Gundo.'
Luna 1878 Winter Night Market is evident from the numbers listed in its name. It started as a small market in the eastern part of Melbourne in 1859 and has maintained its reputation for over 130 years, earning it the nickname 'Big Market.'
If you visit the big market during the daytime, you'll find all kinds of souvenirs, clothes, accessories, fruits, vegetables, and inside the building, you'll find fish, meat, dairy, and more—there's truly no shortage of them. This is the largest Australian traditional market in Melbourne, and is renowned for the freshness of fruits, vegetables, and meat.
It opens at 6 a.m. every day except Mondays and Wednesdays, and if you visit the early morning market, you'll meet the truly diligent Melbourne locals and buy fresh fruits and vegetables.
The bustling atmosphere of the market brings back memories of traditional markets from our childhood. Just as daytime markets offer diverse memories, nighttime markets also offer special memories.

The Charm of Winter Night Market
On a monotonous Wednesday evening, many Melbourne residents gather to spend a special Wednesday night at the Winter Night Market.
It's a market where artists freely express themselves, buskers and musicians performing live music, over 60 booths showcasing world street food, and vintage props—everything is available.
Every Wednesday from 5 PM to 10 PM, families, friends, and couples gather to visit the Victoria Market Night Market. During the summer season, larger night markets open, and the Winter Night Market is just as lively as the summer season.
As you can see in the photo above, the busker carried a one-man band on his back, creating a comical look reminiscent of a toy band, yet delivering truly impressive performances and music.
In addition, many other artists participated, producing wonderful shows and performances. From children to adults, everyone could relate to the show, further heating up the market's excitement.
